Easy Access Clinic

Our goal is to support early prenatal support address episodic gap care support from 4 weeks - 12 weeks (or whenever provider 1st appointment). We aim to focus on emotional support, nutrition, childbirth education, and early doula access. By utilizing the Midwifery Model of Care - front-loading prenatal care for better birthing outcomes.

The Easy (Equity) Access Clinic at the Urban Perinatal Education Center

At the start of 2023, we began the process of undergoing accreditation for our Easy Access Clinic for Community Care. Our goal is to support  perinatal care, education, resources, and support otherwise unintentionally neglected within the larger medical industrial complex. We plan to offer pregnancy testing, and "fill in the gap" care for those prenatal 4 to 10 weeks and again via 2 weeks until 6 weeks (until you can secure an appointment with your provider).

The Easy Access Clinic is based on the four tenets of access, connection, knowledge and empowerment. These are tenets of the JJ Way,  a proven model aligned within the Midwifery Model of Care. The EAC is its purposeful, continuous priority of patient-centric care. It is intentionally focused on centrally supported the birthing person.  We embody this philosophy in addressing the priority of Black and BIPOC  families, the centric focus of the Black Maternal Health epidemic. The global majority continue to produce adverse outcomes due to systematic and institutional intentional discriminating and racially motivated opposition. Our efforts are to uplift, encourage, and empower Black and BIPOC families in the care, and advocacy of their well being and family unit dynamic.

On a national level, Rhode Island included, there is a Black Maternal Health crisis with an 84% preventable maternal mortality and morbidity data range. UPEC is seeking to promote community based service through education, counseling and services. We are fundamentally grounded in addressing perinatal disparities in communities of color through perinatal equity.
